What Diane Keaton Taught Us About Living with Style

Diane Keaton’s Forever Home: Style, Soul & Stories

It’s Sunday afternoon and after hearing of Diane Keaton’s passing, I feel a post talking about her incredible presence, talent and style just felt right or the Sunday blog.

I mean, when an icon like Diane Keaton departs, we lose more than a screen presence. We lose a rare voice in how we live — a woman who treated homes not as backdrops but as endings, beginnings, and everything in between.

She didn’t just wear style — she lived in it. From Spanish Revival fireplaces to industrial windows, Keaton’s homes were lived-in collages. She collected, curated, layered — mixing softness and structure, vintage and modern. ( See her Architectural Digest and House Beautiful interview)

In 5 Flights Up, the heartache of moving isn’t about logistics, but emotional roots. In And So It Goes, we see life orbit around the shifting value of real estate. Both remind us: buying and selling a home is inextricable from who we are.

Our homes, our personal style all give people a glimpse in to who we are. If Diane’s personal style and home style give any indication of who she was- she appeared to be strong, sure, creative, joyful, daring and well just plain talented.

Today, let’s remember Diane not just as a screen legend, but as a homemaker with an architecture mind. May her homes continue to inspire us to dwell beautifully — to layer, to echo our selves in the walls, and to see home as part of our story, not just a place.

If you’re looking for some great Diane Keaton books her are two notable ones..
