Every year, right around this time, I start hearing some version of the same thing.

“We really want to move, but with the holidays coming, maybe we should just wait until next year.”

And sometimes, waiting absolutely is the right answer.

But sometimes?

“After the holidays” becomes spring. Spring becomes summer. And suddenly another year has passed in a home that you already knew wasn't quite right for the life you want next.

So before you automatically decide to wait, I want to offer another possibility:

Lately, homes are taking a little longer to sell. Think more slow pour than espresso shot. On average, houses are sitting for about a month or more before going under contract. That’s a big shift from the blink-and-you-miss-it market we saw not too long ago.
